Own Your Benefits: How to Access Your Benefits Accounts
Many of the benefits offered by the University have their own unique platform in which a member can log into to assist in managing their benefits. The platforms may contain specific data pertaining to the members account, or additional benefits and tips to utilizing the plan. Examples would be MyWellmark for your health plan, Delta Dental for your dental plan, ASIFlex for your flex spending account, or IPERS and TIAA for retirement. Summer is a great time to remind those who have elected an FSA that it can be used on many over-the-counter items. Sunscreen and over-the-counter allergy medications are eligible for reimbursement. Own Your Benefits: More Than Just Insurance, Legal Services and Discounts
Principal Financial, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provide legal discounts to our employees. Employees, their dependents, and beneficiaries have access to tools provided by ARAG® to create important and necessary documents such as a Will, Living Will, Healthcare Power of Attorney and many other legal documents for free. Own Your Benefits: One Dental Plan, Two Networks
Delta Dental, our dental plan vendor, recently wrote about network savings in the Delta Dental Benefits Spotlight. Our UNI Dental Plan has two networks, the Delta Dental PPOSM and Delta Dental Premier®. Delta Dental wrote the differences as:
- Delta Dental PPO: Dentists in this network agree to the lowest fees for services and includes 43% of Iowa dentists.
- Delta Dental Premier: Dentists in this network agree to lower fees for services and includes 93% of Iowa’s dentists and 80% of dentists nationwide.
You can check to see which network your dentist participates in by using the Find a Provider Tool or by asking your dentist.

Own Your Benefits: Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Deadline for 2023 Contributions
March 15, 2024, is the last day to experience claims for your 2023 Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Make sure all claims are submitted to ASI Flex by March 31, 2024 as unused balances will be forfeited. You may use the convenient ASI Flex app or upload claims through ASIFlex.com. Don't forget you may also use your remaining 2023 balance by visiting FSAStore.com to purchase eligible items, which include over-the-counter items.
