My Well-being

Lifelong Protection from Deadly Illness and Disease

August is National Immunization Awareness Month. Each year immunizations prevent serious illness, disease, and death in millions of children and adults in the United States (U.S.). Vaccinations are safe and effective, and in the U.S. they are readily available. UNI health insurance plans cover recommended immunizations as a preventative service at 100%. If you have any questions on recommended immunizations, be sure to consult with your primary care provider.

The flu vaccine is an immunization that is recommended every year. Clinics are available on campus in the fall for faculty and staff to receive one free flu vaccine. Once clinic dates are scheduled they will be posted on our website, and communicated through InsideUNI. Local pharmacies provide drop-in clinics for families to receive their flu vaccine, and are covered at 100% through UNI health insurance plans.

For those able to receive a flu vaccine, be sure to get one every year. Having a population that is highly vaccinated will benefit the entire community during flu season.
