WW is Weight Watchers Reimagined

WW's purpose is to inspire healthy habits for real life. No matter what your goal is—to lose weight, eat healthier, move more, develop a more positive mindset, or all of the above. WW is available to all benefit eligible employees with no cost to join. WW is free for UNI faculty and staff.

This benefit is provided for faculty and staff who are health insurance eligible in a non-intermittent call-in status. New employees or newly benefit eligible employees are able to join once their health insurance benefit begins, as they are entered in the WW system at this time. Criteria to Participate in WW

WW has the following requirements to participate:

  • All participants must be 18 years or older.
  • Anyone with an active diagnosis of anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa, or pregnant are not able to participate in WW.

Program Options

Choose from two WW programs that will best assist you with reaching your health goals. All programs are provided at no cost to eligible employees.

Digital

Eat well, move more, work on your mindset, and lose the weight you want with a personalized action plan, progress reports, easy-to-use tracking tools, and 24/7 coach chat, all found in the WW app.

Unlimited Workshops + Digital

Access to in-person and virtual weight-loss support from your coach and group, as frequently as you need it. Plus full access to digital app and tools.

  4. Enter your six-digit University ID. You must check the box verifying that you meet the eligibility criteria as a spouse of an eligible employee. Then select "next step," to get started!

Spouses of UNI Employees

Spouses can join at a discounted rate and will be responsible for paying the cost of membership.

Membership Length

Membership will continue as long as you are an active benefits eligible employee, and the University maintains a contract with WW. If you terminate employment your membership will end on your last working day.

The move from Weight Watchers to WW was to welcome everyone who seeks to be healthier, not just manage their weight.

  2. 2Q: If someone joins WW through UNI, will weight information be kept confidential?

    2A: Yes. Although UNI will receive aggregate weight loss information for the total membership, we will not receive identifiable personal information. Membership and weight information for individuals is kept confidential.

  3. 3Q: Are there any eligibility restrictions?

    3A: All UNI benefit eligible employees are eligible. WW has the following criteria for membership: To become a WW member, the person must be at least 18 years old, not be pregnant and not have an active diagnosis of bulimia nervosa or anorexia nervosa.

    4A: WW is a digital weight loss and wellness program that enables members to build sustainable, healthy habits for real life. With WW Digital and Workshop+Digital, members can follow the myWW program through the app (and ww.com). The WW app includes trackers, fitness, community, recipes and rewards available anytime. The holistic program helps members to achieve their weight loss goals by eating better, moving more and shifting their mindset. With a Workshop+Digital membership, members can join virtual workshops at the time that best suits their schedule! And WW members can access an expert coach anytime through 24/7 chat.

    5A: On average, WW members achieve 5% weight loss within six months on the program. WW is 3x more effective than obesity weight clinic programs and 2x more effective for weight loss then physician counseling. WW is also evaluated and proven effective for chronic conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes and Prediabetes, and proven to improve blood pressure.

    6A: Upon program launch and once eligibility is verified, members are able to enroll in WW by visiting https://www.weightwatchers.com/us/wwhs, and entering your company's assigned Access ID.

    7A: The WW app is downloadable through the App Store on any smart device (iPhone or Android).

  8. 9Q: How are WW's weight loss programs customized to members?

    9A: When members join WW, they’ll unlock a personal assessment that gets to know their eating habits, food preferences, lifestyle, and activity level. Based on their answers, WW’s will scientifically match them with a color (blue, green, and purple) that guides them toward food choices geared for their goals. The WW app will be personalized with food and activity tracker, Connect groups, FitPoints®, and more.

  9. 10Q: Will workshops be held on-campus? Is participation considered a part of work time?

    10A: There are no on-campus workshops, but you can visit the WW webpage for a list of local workshops. Virtual workshops are also available. The program allows for flexibility of scheduling. Attendance of workshops and use of this benefit should take place on the employees own time. Employees wanting to attend a workshop during working hours should contact their supervisor for approval.
