What You Need to Know

IRS Form 1095-C for 2025 Tax Year

As part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employers must provide IRS Form 1095-C to employees who were offered or enrolled in employer-sponsored health insurance in 2025. The University will make the 2025 Form 1095-C available electronically in UNI Works before the March 2, 2026 deadline.

Form 1095-C includes confidential information about employees eligible for UNI health insurance in 2025 and, when applicable, enrolled dependents. To reduce mailing errors and protect your information, please log in to UNI Works and select the “Receive electronic copy of 1095-C” option. You can follow the 1095-C Form Job Aid for guidance.

Forms will appear in the Benefits and Pay App once they are ready. Human Resource Services will notify campus by email when they become available to print.

You do not need Form 1095-C to file your 2025 tax return, though you should keep it with your tax records. UNI will report your 2025 health insurance coverage directly to the IRS. For more information, visit the HRS supporting webpage.

Skip the Hassle—Scan Your FSA Eligibility With the New ASIFlex App

If you’re enrolled in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you can now take advantage of a new feature in the ASIFlex mobile app—a barcode scanner that lets you quickly check if an item is eligible for reimbursement.

How it works:

Simply scan a product’s barcode to instantly determine its FSA eligibility. The app will display one of the following messages:

  • This item is FSA eligible
  • Based on the barcode, this item may not be eligible

Getting started:

  • New users: Download the ASIFlex mobile app from your device’s app store.
  • Existing users: Make sure your app is updated to the latest version to access this feature

Save time and shop smarter by using the barcode scanner to confirm product eligibility before you buy!

One Simple Move to Strengthen Your Retirement Dollars This Year

January is National Financial Wellness Month—a perfect time to refresh not just on your mind and body, but on your money habits, too. As you welcome the new year, consider taking a moment to revisit your budget, savings goals, and especially your retirement strategy.

Is there room in your monthly budget to start—or boost—a Tax-Deferred Annuity (TDA)? Remember, you can start, stop, or adjust a TDA at any point during the year, giving you the flexibility to build your future on your own terms.

If you’re curious about how a TDA fits into your financial plan, get recommendations from TIAA’s online tool, and work with a TIAA financial consultant. Let this be the year you take charge of your financial well-being.

What Happens When You Skip Alcohol for 30 Days?

Have you ever tried Dry January? It’s a month-long challenge where you take a break from alcohol — no pressure, no lifetime commitments, just 31 days to reset. Many people find it far less intimidating than swearing off alcohol forever, and it can be a fun, motivating way to start the new year. You can take it on solo or team up with friends, family, or coworkers for accountability and support.

Dry January is a chance to shake up old habits and experiment with new ones. Maybe you swap a Friday night cocktail for a yoga class, choose a weekend coffee date over brunch drinks, or try out creative mocktails instead of wine. Even a short break can help you tune in to how alcohol affects your energy, mood, sleep, and overall health.

Alcohol is linked to several health risks — including certain cancers, stroke, high blood pressure, weight gain, and more. Taking time away from drinking can offer noticeable benefits, both physically and mentally.

If you’re curious about how a break from alcohol could improve your health, or you want tips for making Dry January a success, check out this article from Mayo Clinic.
