All UNI Faculty and Staff are eligible to receive the Panther First Award. The Panther First Award identifies and rewards employees who have provided excellent customer service to customers, co-workers, or other members of the UNI community. Award submissions are subject to review and recipients are given a certificate signed by the UNI President.
UNI has two health plans available for eligible employees, the UNI PPO (Alliance Select) and the UNI Blue Advantage (HMO). The UNI PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plan provides coverage whether you are in-network or out-of-network, but you pay more for services provided outside of the network. The network for this plan is nationwide and is available in over 200 countries. The UNI Blue Advantage is known as a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). This plan provides coverage only in the state of Iowa.
Fire Prevention Week is observed the week of Oct. 9 in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Beyond elementary school, most people receive little education on fire/injury prevention. Jason Kayser, fire and safety specialist, will provide fire safety tips for home and work at 3:30 pm., Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the office of Environmental Health & Safety (3219 Hudson Road).
Human Resource Services will host two informational sessions on saving for retirement. This workshop is for employees in all stages of their career and will provide information on the 403(b) plan, the advantages of participating, how to create a retirement strategy and how to update your account. All faculty and staff are welcome to attend. The hour long sessions will be presented by TIAA: October 15 at 3 p.m. and October 16 at noon in the Oak Room MAU. Please register in advance.
The 2019 Annual Benefits Open Enrollment period is going on now and will run through October 31, 2018. During this time you may learn what is new for 2019, as well as review and change your benefit elections. Any changes made to your benefit elections will be effective January 1, 2019. Employees wishing to enroll in Flex Spending must enroll or re-enroll each year.
This is a reminder that the first flu clinic is on Wednesday, September 26, in the Rod Library room 287 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There are reports of cases of the flu already in our community, and the flu season is suspected to peak early this year. It's a good idea to get your flu shot early if you are able! Additional clinic times and dates can be found on our Flu Shot page.
Human Resource Services will host the first of four confidential biometric screenings in September. All benefit eligible employees may participate in one free biometric screening each academic year.
