Enroll in our Managing Conflict session being held on Thursday, February 21 at 1:30 PM. While workplace conflict is natural and healthy, destructive conflict can easily occur when things get tough. Poorly managed, conflict can become a costly business problem that destroys employee and team performance.
HRS has additional spots available in the Art of Active Listening workshop! This session will be presented by Lori Garder from Employee & Family Resources. It will be held on Thursday, November 29 from 10 AM - 11:30 AM in the State College Room (lower level of Maucker Union). Enroll online. Participants will learn to identify barriers to effective communication, explore their personal communication style and learn to apply five key principles of more effective interaction.

Human Resource Services will host two informational sessions presented by SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program). Learn the basics of Medicare and how to integrate healthcare into your retirement plan. All faculty and staff are welcome to attend. All UNI Faculty and Staff are eligible to receive the Panther First Award. The Panther First Award identifies and rewards employees who have provided excellent customer service to customers, co-workers, or other members of the UNI community. Award submissions are subject to review and recipients are given a certificate signed by the UNI President.
UNI has two health plans available for eligible employees, the UNI PPO (Alliance Select) and the UNI Blue Advantage (HMO). The UNI PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plan provides coverage whether you are in-network or out-of-network, but you pay more for services provided outside of the network. The network for this plan is nationwide and is available in over 200 countries. The UNI Blue Advantage is known as a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). This plan provides coverage only in the state of Iowa.
Fire Prevention Week is observed the week of Oct. 9 in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Beyond elementary school, most people receive little education on fire/injury prevention. Jason Kayser, fire and safety specialist, will provide fire safety tips for home and work at 3:30 pm., Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the office of Environmental Health & Safety (3219 Hudson Road).
