Upcoming Professional Development Workshops

Human Resource Services will be offering two professional development workshops in July.  Both sessions will be led by Lars Peterson from Employee & Family Resources via Zoom.  Diversity Awareness at Work will be held on July 10 from 11 AM - 12:30 PM and will be followed by Building an Effective Team on July 16 from 1 PM - 2:30 PM.  Registration is required.  

EAP Workshop: Difficult Conversations with Difficult People

Human Resource Services (HRS) is hosting Tom Farley from Employee & Family Resources on Wednesday, March 4 from 10 AM - 12 PM in the State College Room (Maucker Union).  Tom will be presenting on Difficult Conversations with Difficult People.  All employees are encouraged and welcome to attend these professional development sessions!  Register today.  

Panther First Award

All UNI Faculty and Staff are eligible to receive the Panther First Award. The Panther First Award identifies and rewards employees who have provided excellent customer service to customers, co-workers, or other members of the UNI community. Award submissions are subject to review and recipients are given a certificate signed by the UNI President.

EAP Workshop: Art of Active Listening

Human Resource Services will host a presenter from Employee & Family Resources (EFR) on Thursday, February 6 from 10 AM - 12 PM on The Art of Active Listening.  Participants will learn to identify barriers to effective communication, explore their personal communication style and learn to apply five key principles of more effective interaction.  Register today.

Professional Development: 7 Keys to Understanding Politics in 2020

The Professional Development Committee has invited Dr Chris Larimer (Professor, Political Science) to help us expand upon our political understanding, especially as we close in on the Iowa Caucuses.  Dr Larimer will discuss what he views as seven keys to understanding politics in 2020, including the Iowa Caucuses and the 2020 presidential election.  Dr Larimer will explore on-going trends in public opinion and political behavior and what those trends mean.  All staff, faculty, and students are invited to attend on January 27 fr
