Speak With a Board Certified Physician
Utilize a virtual office visit as an optional alternative to walk-in clinics with a board certified physician through Doctor On Demand! Doctor On Demand is an optional service designed to save you time, and help save the university self-insured health plans money. It is also very convenient and prevents exposure to other contagious illnesses at an urgent care office. The current average wait time to see a physician is three weeks. Even if you get in to see a doctor, it can take 2-3 hours from the time you leave your home or office to the time you get back home. Doctor On Demand can help individuals treat common illnesses from their home or office with very little wait time.
Top conditions treated are:
- Cold and flu
- Sore throat
- Pink eye
- Skin rashes/irritations
- Lactation consulting
The physician can walk you through a physical examination that is customized and focused to your specific ailment. Your doctor will guide you through looking, listening and feeling to complete a thorough self-assessment. If a prescription is needed to treat your condition, they can prescribe a medication and send to your preferred pharmacy.
Please use the Doctor On Demand virtual office visits when applicable. Doctor On Demand should never replace your Designated Personal Doctor. Taking advantage of the preventive care visits covered by your plan with your Designated Personal Doctor, can help you catch red flags before they become a riskier — and pricier — health problem.
UNI Employee Testimonials
" I couldn't be happier with my recent experience with Doctor on Demand. Once I downloaded the app on my phone, I spent a few minutes entering my insurance and payment information for the copay, and then I was ready to start. I was given an estimated wait time and my actual wait was shorter than estimated. The doctor was thorough but efficient and and in no time had the prescription I needed sent to the 24 hour pharmacy I selected. It was 9:30 p.m. at night and my doctor's office was closed. Had I delayed treatment until the next day, my condition could have been worse and I would have had to miss work to go to the appointment. I also liked knowing that I saved money for my insurance plan as the cost of this service was half of what my office visit would have been. I will definitely use Doctor on Demand in the future! "
" When my kids had recurring sinus problems, I couldn't get appointments with our primary doctor, and the wait time at urgent care was two hours. I decided to try Doctor on Demand. Registering for an account and downloading the app were simple steps, and we were connected to a physician within minutes. Through a series of questions and talking my son through a "video examination," the doctor diagnosed a sinus infection, and sent a prescription to my pharmacy. In total, both of my sons were diagnosed and treated in less than 20 minutes. Although we were skeptical at first, I was very impressed with the ease and efficiency of Doctor on Demand, and will definitely be using the service more often. "
