Payroll Adjustments
Benefit adjustments may appear on an employee’s payslip for a couple of different reasons. Employees who have their benefit premiums deducted out of nine (9) or ten (10) paychecks will typically see these adjustments. These adjustments will commonly appear the first month their insurance begins, if experiencing a change in coverage due to a qualified life event, or the last month of employment. Adjustments may be seen on health, dental, vision, or voluntary term life.
Employees with 9 Annual Deductions
Employees who pay for their benefits out of nine paychecks (September – May) will see an adjustment on their paycheck if there is a change in benefit plan or plan option. This is a one time adjustment and is calculated based on what the nine (9) annual deduction employee paid the previous month and what they need to pay, or be credited, compared to twelve (12) annual deductions. Please see the following examples using current UNI PPO health insurance premiums.
