The university offers a variety of free services for those who are eligible and expecting.

Wellmark Pregnancy Support Program

If you, or a dependent, are expecting and are covered on one of the university health plans, you can take advantage of the free Wellmark Pregnancy Support Program. This program offers a variety of resources such as the ability to speak with nurses, Count the Kicks®, and 24/7 Phone Support. Access the resources through your myWellmark account.

Delta Dental Enhanced Benefits

Your dental plan includes Delta Dental of Iowa's Enhanced Benefits Program, which offers one additional free teeth cleaning to members who are pregnant. This program is available to employees and their family members who are enrolled in the UNI Dental Plan. Clinical studies of pregnant women with periodontal disease strongly suggest that more frequent professional teeth cleanings will benefit the health of both the baby and the mother.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

EAP is a service that offers initial assessment/referral and short-term counseling for employees and their immediate, tax dependent family members, and/or those family members covered on the employee's health insurance plan. EAP can address personal problems that may be affecting relationships, health, and work performance. Up to six sessions per problem can be made to assist you.

Principal Financial Will Preparation Services

The birth of a child is an opportune time to either create or update your will. UNI’s life insurance vendor, Principal Financial, provides a service which allows you to create a will, a living will, and power of attorney documents for free. These documents provide legal documentation of your wishes. As long as you are covered by UNI’s life insurance plan, you will be able to create and change the documents with no charge.
