Use Sun Protection This Summer and Everyday
According to the CDC, skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. UV rays from the sun and artificial tanning beds are the most common cause of skin cancer. Despite efforts to prevent this cancer,
the United States continues to see an increase in diagnoses. For additional information on how to reduce your risk of skin cancer, check
out the additional resources provided by the CDC.

Use a Layered Approach for Sun Protection
Sunscreen works best when used with shade or clothes, and it must be re-applied every 2 hours and after swimming, sweating, or toweling off.
Use broad spectrum sunscreen with at
least SPF 15 to protect exposed skin.
Wear a hat, sunglasses, and
protective clothing to shield skin.
Seek shade, especially
during midday hours.

The Costs of Healthcare Visits, You Can Know Before You Go
Wellmark®, UNI’s health insurance vendor, offers tools to help members determine the cost of an appointment prior to visiting the doctor’s office. These tools are called the Wellmark Care Finder and Cost Estimator
Tool located within the MyWellmark system. Use the tools to learn your out-of-pocket costs for different services and appointments. Keep in mind that services done within the State of Iowa cost the self-insured
plans less than when services are done outside of the state. The Care Finder tool also provides ratings and reviews on providers when you complete a search. Utilize the Know Before You Go webpage to help you select your care.
