Remember to Think Pink this October

October is breast cancer awareness month. Breast cancer is the most common cancer for women, but men can get it too. It impacts us all. Screenings and early detection are essential and can save lives. Healthcare offices are open and provide screenings, diagnosis, and treatment during this time. Do not delay your screening due to COVID-19, extra safety precautions are being taken. Call your healthcare provider to set up your appointment, and stay well!

A few facts from the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. and American Cancer Society:

  • Only 5-10% of individuals diagnosed have a family history of breast cancer

  • 1 in 8 women receive a breast cancer diagnosis

  • 1 in 1,000 men will receive a breast cancer diagnosis

  • On average, every two minutes a female is diagnosed with breast cancer

  • One woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes

  • Alcohol use increases the risk of breast cancer
