Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
According to the National Cancer Institute, one in twenty people in the United States will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer during their lifetime. Early detection is key. When this cancer is found in the early
stages, the five year survival rates are around 90 percent. Wellmark has provided some examples that
support the importance of screening and early detection. Screenings are recommended for groups that have increased risk factors for colorectal cancer, and are covered through your Wellmark BC/BS insurance, as
recommended by the Adult Health Maintenance Guidelines.
