One Dental Plan, Two NetworksDelta Dental, our dental plan vendor, recently wrote about network savings in the Delta Dental Benefits Spotlight. Our UNI Dental Plan has two networks, the Delta Dental PPOSM and Delta Dental Premier®. Delta wrote the differences as: - Delta Dental PPO: Dentists in this network agree to the lowest fees for services and includes 43% of Iowa dentists.
- Delta Dental Premier: Dentists in this network agree to lower fees for services and includes 93% of Iowa’s dentists and 80% of dentists nationwide.
You can check to see which network your dentist participates in by using the Find a Provider Tool or by asking your dentist. |

Social Wellness Awareness MonthScience tells us social wellness has a significant impact on our mental and physical health. Many of us may have noticed this at the start of the pandemic while we were all socially isolating. Certainly social isolation has an impact on mental health with increases of depression, anxiety, and deaths from suicide. However, according to the CDC, social isolation also increases risk of dementia by 50%, stroke by 32%, and heart disease by 29%. Having strong social connections and good relationships has scientifically been proven to increase health, happiness, and longevity. Stay in touch with friends, family, loved ones, co-workers, and consider saying ‘yes’ to that next social gathering! Looking for ways to improve a relationship? Check out Seven Evidence Bases Ways to Improve Your Relationship. Also, check out this article for tips to improve your social connections. Your EAP can also help!
